FAQs
A SERIES
My pump seems to be making a lot of noise. Should I be concerned?
A Series air pumps are quiet, so excessive noise is not normal. First, check any items connected to the pump for excess backpressure that may be building up. For example, air stones can plug up over time and need replacement. Then, open the pump and ensure that all rubber parts (i.e. diaphragms and bushings) are intact and in working order.
Why is water leaking out of my air pump?
When positioning an air pump below the water level, back-siphoning can occur if an air pump check valve has not been used.
The air output has reduced. What do I do?
Check any items connected to the pump for excess backpressure that may be building up. For example, air stones can plug up over time and need replacement. Then, open the pump and ensure that all rubber parts (i.e. diaphragms and bushings) are intact and in working order.
What flow rate should I use on my A series air pump?
The adjustable flow rate of A series air pumps allows them to be used on larger and smaller aquariums alike, and in cases require strong or moderate surface agitation. It’s best to experiment with different flow rates to find the settings that work best for your aquarium.
Where should I position an air stone in my aquarium?
Air stones should be positioned far away from filtration intakes to avoid air entering the filter.
Is it better to position the air pump horizontally or to mount it vertically using the rubber hang tag?
Mounting the air pump vertically using the rubber hang tag is a space-saving solution that helps to reduce clutter. Otherwise, both installation options are equally viable.

E HEATERS
Why is my E Series heater not reaching the desired temperature?
As E Series heaters are housed in protective casings, it’s important to ensure they are subjected to strong water movement. Ambient room temperature is also a factor: if the difference between it and the heater’s set temperature is more than 3 °C (8 °F), additional heating capacity is likely necessary. You can either add another heater or upgrade to a more powerful unit.
Are E series heaters fully submersible?
Yes, E Series heaters are fully submersible. The instructional manual specifies a minimum water level.
Why does my E Series heater sometimes flash blue in the morning?
This is probably due to the fact that the water temperature has dropped by one or two degrees overnight.
My heater won’t hold a temperature of 80°F (26.7°C) in my aquarium. Do I need to add more heating power?
Most likely the answer is yes. If you wish to maintain 80°F in your aquarium, you will likely need more power or begin by warming up the room itself as ambient temperature is very important. The cooler the room is, the greater the energy requirement to increase the aquarium temperature.
